K9 Keepfit Established In 2017
K9 Keepfit was created and inspired by Aspen, owner Renee Heymann’s husky. In 2014, Aspen was kicked out of his regular dog daycare due to his over-exuberant play style. The humans there clearly had no idea how to handle Aspen’s exciting, energetic nature. In search of a daycare that would allow Aspen to play safely and happily with other dogs and get plenty of outdoor exercise, Renee found a small company with a lot of heart.
Canine Specialties, operated by certified, professional dog trainer Jose Moreno, began its Keep Fit Daycare Program with the purpose of helping every dog develop better behaviors and improved socialization habits while satisfying their daily exercise need. Strictly supervised playgroups and outdoor neighborhood Pack Walks already had Renee interested. What kept Renee coming back was the behavioral improvements she saw in Aspen and his sister-dog, Shiloh, as well as Jose’s dedicated support and always-relevant advice on how to continually improve family life with her wild and crazy huskies.
In Spring 2017, Jose announced the planned closure of Canine Specialties and, with it, the Keep Fit Daycare program. Saddened by the loss of such a great source of dog care and support, Renee decided to fulfill a long-held dream of opening her very own dog care facility. With owner Jose’s blessing and support, she hired his dedicated head dog trainer as her manager and hired his amazingly skilled dog walkers, too.
Today, K9 Keepfit supports its dogs and their humans, in every way possible, through Active Daycare, Specialized Training, and Overnight Care. The cornerstone of Renee’s vision continues the Keep Fit tradition of providing individual attention, knowledgeable advice, and specialized guidance for every dog and every human… especially for those dogs who are just too much for other facilities to handle.
In the coming year, Renee looks forward to offering more services and expanding into a larger facility where she and her team will continue to provide devoted care for the benefit of dogs and their families.
